Getting Here Malindi is in the North Coast of Kenya approximately 150 Kms from Mombasa. You can reach Malindi by Air,with several airlinse serving Malindi regularly from Nairobi including Kenya Airways and Air Kenya. You can also come by road to Malindi using a personal car or by bus. Once in Malindi it is easy to find Seaview Resort.
Clothing The Malindi dress style is casual. Obviously with the warm climate light loose summer wear is most comfortable. On the beach swimwear is fine, but once off the beach it helps to keep in mind cultural differences by covering up a little... strutting through town in your bikini top and short saronge won't make you any friends and may subject you to harmless heckling, or akward comeons by locals. The same goes for men. You can buy gorgeous local beach wear like sarongs, swimmers, beach tops and loose pants once you get here if you like.
Language Nearly all locals speak Swahilli, and English skills ranging from broken to fluent. These days you will get by on English, but it certainly helps, especially when shopping and bargaining, to speak at least a little Swhalli. Also with the large influx of Italians that arrived in the late 80's you will also find locals that speak some Italian (many locals assume those of white skin to speak italian which can get confusing!), and certainly many of the resorts owners being of Italian decent.
Time Difference Kenya is 3 hours ahead of Greenwhich Mean Time (GMT).
